Saturday 30th May 2016
Our first match of the day was against Norfolk both Bethan and Natalie came out on top to beat their opponents, Natalie came from 3-2 down to win the first set and then went 3 up in the 2nd and then stopped hitting the ball before coming through in 2 sets. Amelia did not quite get going in her match, but the team won 2-1.
Next up was Essex and this proved to be a much closer encounter. Bethan fought well but lost her match. Natalie played an almost flawless 2 sets, hardly made any unforced errors, played much more aggressively than in her first match and played the right shots at the right time, a great win for the team. Amelia had a marathon match to try and win the tie, lost the 1st set due to too many unforced errors, but came back in the 2nd set to take this 4-2 and then down to the championship tiebreak unfortunately losing this 10-6, but a great effort.
Next round on day 1 and all running on time, due to the weather which was sunny and dry. Oxfordshire were our last opponents all the girls played well in their last matches, Bethan won on a championship tiebreak, Amelia played well to win hers and Natalie was 4-0 3-2 up when her opponent retired. All in all a good first day for Bucks. COME ON!!!
Sunday 1st May 2016
Don’t want to jinks the day but the sun is shinning again for us. Berkshire were our 1st opponents of the day and our last group match. Unfortunately both Bethan and Natalie lost their matches, both had too many unforced errors during the match, although they did set up the points well, just needed to work on the final ball. Amelia played exceptionally well and stuck to her game plan during the match.
Now for the playoff places for 5th or 6th. Oxfordshire would prove to be tough opponents Bethan played much better in her last match, although going down in 2 sets. Amelia had another tight match but also went down losing in a championship tiebreak 7-10. Natalie kept her focus and patients against her opponent and won comfortably. Bucks girls finished 6th overall in the U12’s.
Would like to say a big thank you to all the team Bethan Miles, Amelia Howie and Natalie Bell for their great team spirit and work ethic to the cause for Bucks over the 2 days. Also a big thank you to all the parents for their great support and encouragement and for the laughs!!!! A big thanks to Dixie (the Bucks Mascot) for her distraction and stress relief over the 2 days.
