St Petroc crowned winners at schools competition

On a beautiful warm sunny afternoon in Bodmin, 8 teams from surrounding primary schools competed to qualify for the Cornwall Youth Games. The Dragon Leisure Centre host the Bodmin Primary schools mini tennis red qualifier, where teams made up of 2 boys and 2 girls played timed matches, with every point counting towards their schools overall score.

St Petroc's C of E primary School fielded a strong team of Jowan Rawson, Owen Young, Louisa May and Tia Brown. Their experience proved too strong and won themselves a place in the Cornwall youth games on Friday 22nd June.

Many thanks to all the schools that entered the event and a special mention to the tremendous work of the Sports leaders from Bodmin College, who volunteered as court supervisors and scorers. It was good to see so many young tennis players enjoying themselves and playing some excellent tennis in hot weather conditions.

Good luck to St Petrocs C of E Primary school in the finals of the Cornwall Youth Games.
