Keith Songhurst shines as Olympic Torch Bearer
Keith Songhurst from Penzance Tennis Club proudly carried the Olympic Torch on Saturday 19th May.

Keith's tennis career started at the age of twelve, with his talent seeing him qualify for Junior Wimbledon and crowning him the 'West of England Junior Champion'.
His tennis CV has been impressive with Keith bringing on so many talented young players who have gone on to perform at the highest levels.

Recent stars include Simon Pender who played at Wimbledon and  is now head of development for the LTA in the South West.
John Richards who is currently playing on the Satellite circuit.
James Preston who has recently been appointed as a coach at the renowned John McEnroe Academy.

Equally as important is the fact that hundreds of local players have taken up playing tennis and have aquired his enthusiasm and affection for the game.

At 73 Keith has been involved for 60 years in Cornish Tennis and is still involved with local tennis.  Chances are he can found with a racket in his hand at Penzance Tennis Club or Hayle Tennis Club most days of the week, summer or winter, come rain or shine.
Congratulations Keith, you look fantastic.
