For most of the players, this was their first experience of 14 & Under County Cup and with the boys playing at Sutton and the girls at the National Tennis Centre, Roehampton, both teams benefitted from increased team spirit and support by being able to stay in the same hotel.
For the girls, their first day was something of a baptism of fire being up against a very strong Sussex team, the eventual group winner. A 0-6 loss could have set the girls back but they rallied brilliantly and came out fighting on day two. Battling hard they took the tie against Northamptonshire 5-1.
The 3rd and 4th play-off on the final day was against near rivals Somerset but despite a good effort the girls were unable to hold them off.
Captain Adam Tapp said,"both Kate (Asst. Capt) and I were very proud of the girls and want to say thank you to them for their impeccable behaviour, team spirit, great company and singing....A LOT of singing…..(sigh)…… over the weekend. Well done Girls."
