Hertfordshire Service To Sports Awards

Herts Champions 2012

Herts Tennis was recognised for its extraordinary success during 2012 at last night’s Hertfordshire Service to Sports Awards.  In addition to the Men’s and Ladies teams who won both the summer and winter AEGON County Cup national titles, 3 junior players also won national events. 

The picture shows:

1. Neil Bamford {Vice Captain to Jeff Wayne, who is absent as he is on tour with "War of the Worlds”} are the National Title Holders of the Winter and Summer County Cups 2012. They have dominated County tennis for 6 years and have won the Winter event for 6 years running and have won the Summer title for 5 out 8 of the last 8 years.

2.Sarah Donovan { Ladies Captain } are also the National Title Holders of the Winter and Summer County Cups 2012. This is their 2nd Winter title and their 2nd Summer title.

The Senior County teams have achieved the Double Double for the first time since 1971 when Surrey last achieved that feat.

3.Emily Arbuthnott: National Title holder of the 14U Road to Wimbledon 2012 both in singles and doubles. Emily represents Hertfordshire in many age groups and was part of the Senior Ladies team who won the Winter title. She is based at Batchwood High Performance Centre and Harpenden Tennis Club. Emily is currently ranked no.1 in the country within her age group.

4.Finn Bass: National 12U Champion and Winter Masters Tour 12U Champion.Finn also is a
regular member of Junior County Teams and is presently studying and training at Millfield School but keeps his links with Herts and Gosling International High Performance Centre. 

5.Indianna Spink: National 10U Champion. Indy is also a regular representative for Herts and trains at Gosling IHPC.
