Find out which streets will get chance to shine as torch passes through county

A street-by-street route of the Olympic Torch's journey through Kent has been released by London 2012 organisers.

Preparations for the iconic flame's arrival can finally begin, now that scores of businesses are learning that it will be carried right past their shop window.

The dates for your diary are 18th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd July.

The torch will leave Rye at 09.44am on Wednesday 18th July and make its way to Ashford (10.49am), Hythe (13.06pm) and Folkestone (14.04pm)  before heading north to Dover, where huge celebrations will be held along Marine Parade. Dover Seafront is one of 66 Evening Celebration locations and the evening events will offer thousands of people the opportunity to come together and get involved in sharing in the Olympic spirit. As part of the events LOCOG and the Presenting Partners, Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung, will stage exciting entertainment shows where a cauldron will be lit from the Olympic Flame, marking the end of the day’s proceedings.

Carried by an army of local "torchbearers" – the flame will enter Kent from East Sussex. With thousands expected to line the route, there will be growing excitement as the flame makes its way through Kent.

On Thursday 19th July the torch is in Deal at 08.27am before moving to Sandwich (09.12am), Ramsgate (10.13am), Broadstairs (10.44am), Margate (12.22pm) and Canterbury (15.34pm).

The Olympic Torch Relay will arrive in the Maidstone borough on Thursday 19th July.  There will be an official evening celebration with locally and nationally organised entertainment and a cauldron lighting ceremony at Leeds Castle.

We get our first chance to see the torch as it travels along the A20, Ashford Road, at Harrietsham starting at 6.19 pm at the Ashford Road/Church Lane junction. The torch is carried through Harrietsham before going back to vehicle convoy at Ashford Road/Lenmead at 6.30pm. The Torch then travel by convoy where it arrives at Leeds Castle for the start of the official Evening Celebration event and it lights the cauldron.

The next morning, Friday 20th July the world’s attention will turn to Mote Park as the Olympic Torch Relay leaves the county town via Maidstone town centre and by boat along the River Medway. It will go to Gillingham (07.50am), Rochester (08.44am), Gravesend (09.51am) and Sevenoaks (12.28pm).

On 21st July the torch will reach Greenwich at 07.21am, on 22nd July the Olympic Flame will set off from Redbridge, running through Barking and Dagenham and Havering before arriving in Bexley at around 4pm. Torchbearers will then carry the Flame through the borough to an evening celebration at Danson Park. Finally the torch will leave Lewisham at 07.20am on 23rd July and arrive in Bromley at 08.55am.

Sebastian Coe, chairman of London 2012 organisers Locog, said he was delighted the route had been finalised.

"Now the people know the route the Olympic Flame will be carried along, they can start planning how they might celebrate and make it their community's moment to shine."

An average of 115 torchbearers a day will carry it during its 8,000-mile journey around the UK before it arrives at the Olympic Stadium on July 27 for the opening ceremony.
