Shooters Hill LTC and Christ Church Primary School joined forces on Friday 25th November 2011 when the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) asked Head Coach Phil Layfield to send 16 pupils to the O2 Arena for a tennis coaching clinic with Judy Murray during the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
With help from Head Teacher Terry Segarty and Gill Moore, 16 very excited children were put through their paces by Judy Murray and her coaching team on the practice courts inside the O2 Arena. Judy and her team set up a number of drills to challenge the children and all were given invaluable advice from Judy herself.
After the coaching clinic, photos were taken with Judy and the children were then introduced to the LTA’s new Mini Tennis mascots Alfie and Suzie in the Kids Zone. Here the children tested their reaction skills, hitting accuracy and challenged the coaches to the longest rally. All the children received prizes, with Jack Beresford-Allan and Lola Gibbon winning t-shirts for their effort throughout the morning.
It was a great morning out for the children and a big thank you to all the teachers who helped out on the day. All the children had a fantastic time and it was a wonderful opportunity for them all. Thanks to Highland Spring for sponsoring the event and providing t-shirts to all the children.
