Leicester's Jayant Mistry won the men's singles title at the National Wheelchair Tennis Championships in Gloucester.

Mistry, who was unseeded, overcame illness to triumph three years after his last national title and almost two years since announcing his retirement from top flight international competition.

He beat Yorkshire's Kevin Plowman at Oxstalls Tennis Centre to land his 14th title.

He also finished runner-up in the men's doubles, he and Plowman losing to Marc McCarroll and Nottinghamshire's David Phillipson in the final.

Wigston's Rachel Edwards, 15, was runner-up in the B Division singles and the Lord's Taverners Junior doubles where she partnered Ella Beaumont.
