Report: Kevin Hoey Memorial Mini Orange Festival of Tennis
Corby had an outstanding event on Saturday 11th January, with 28 kids taking part in 84 matches of really high quality. As you will find out from speaking with the captains and parents that were here, the day went without a hitch. We started on the dot an 10.30 and finished at 3.00pm, so half an hour early! My court supervisors were all junior players, so it did them a lot of good being on the other side of the fence, and seeing the preparation that goes into running a smooth event. I must also thank Justin Chacksfield for his help throughout the day, as without him it would be much tougher for me to referee it. The captains, players and parents all contributed massively to making the day such a success, so please pass on my thanks to them. As the referee, I took home a lot of satisfaction knowing that the experience they all had at Corby on Saturday was a very positive one, and will help to keep them all interested in tennis, and hopefully wanting to come back for more!
