18 pairs of ladies from all over the county and north Essex eagerly took part in this our second EACH charity doubles event, such was the success of the last event, a reserve list had to be drawn up for this event.
The event was kindly supported by Coes of Ipswich, with the facilities loaned by Ipswich Sports Club, both very pleased to be involved in supporting such a notable charity.
3 groups of 6 pairs played in the indoor centre and the newly erected bubble, and it was the first time some of the ladies had played indoors.
The semi-finals were contested by Fenella and Anne (Frinton TC) v Anne and Dianna (Ipswich Sports Club) and Sara and Lillian (Ipswich Sports Club) and Janet and Pam (Wortham TC), both semis were tight matches with Fenella & Anne and Sara & Lillian reaching the final.
In the final Fenella & Anne, proved to be worthy winners and the title crossing the border into Essex.
During the lunch, listening to Vicky from EACH give a little presentation on the work of the charity, this really hit home with the players, and this saw the raffle takings suddenly double such was the impact.
The tennis was played in a friendly atmosphere and everybody enjoyed their day, and were pleased to be able to contribute towards the £800 raised for the charity.
On the day they event was run by Julia Waters, Mike Watling and Sheelagh Watts, who were delighted with the sum raised.
