September 2011

Please find the new county Regularly Competing Junior league table. This county league table shows the number of regularly competing junior players (RCJ) at each place to play within Suffolk. An RCJ is someone who has played 6 or more competitive matches in a 12 month period. This table will be updated monthly.

A “Summer” of contrasting weather came to a disappointing end at Bath Road last Sunday, the Suffolk LTA Inter-Club Doubles about half an hour away from being successfully completed when the heavens opened and heavy rain caused an abrupt end to the day. The premature finish to the Men’s Final was of particular disappointment to the Felixstowe pairing of Charlie Fulcher and Hussein Ahmed, bidding to win the title for the host club for the 2nd year running.

Suffolk County player Ashley Watling, who made such an invaluable contribution for the Men’s team who gained an incredible promotion to Group 2 at Hunstanton in July, has just been awarded national honours in the Collegiate system in the States. Watling, who plays for the University of Tulsa with Australian Clifford Marsland, will begin the pre-season as the 4th ranked doubles partnership in the country.

The 2011 summer leaderboards have been finalised and the 2011 winter leaderboards are now live

7 teams of 2 players; one boy and one girl playing one short set, (first to 4 instead of 6), of girls singles, boys singles and mixed doubles in each fixture, went into battle on a perfect afternoon for tennis.
