No doubt inspired by the recent Davis Cup success of Andy Murray and team in the Davis Cup, Suffolk’s 18 and Under teams will be competing in the nationwide Aegon Junior Inter-County Cup this weekend. The Boys are based at Bromley in Group 3A where they take on Buckinghamshire, Hampshire + the Isle of Wight and Devon, with the Girls closer at hand at Redbridge where they meet Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Northamptonshire in Group 5B.
Matt Hough and Ben Smith travel with the Boys, who have a strong-looking squad in Paul Midgley, Ryan Lambert, Ben Jones, James Ling, Toby Cutting, Jared Bones, Tom Belton and Henry Hillyard.The Girls will be accompanied by Wortham’s Emily Wharton and Sheelagh Watts, and will be represented by Georgia Harris, Olivia Hine, Florence McCausland, Florence Kenworthy, Flora McWhirter and Taylor Ball.
Turning to the Seniors, there will be the annual trials for the 7 teams on Sunday week, March 9th, with three courts booked at the Ipswich Sports Club, Henley Road, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm. Teams will once again be fielded at Over 45 level, Over 50, Over 55, Over 60, Over 70 and Over 75 level.
