International tennis returns to the courts of Felixstowe Lawn Tennis Club on Sunday 12th July, when the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) presents the Aegon GB Pro-Series. Continuing a bumper summer of grass court tennis and hot off the heels of the fortnight of The Championships, Wimbledon, this ITF Futures $15,000 event will feature men’s singles and doubles draws and will culminate on finals day, Saturday 18th July.
Britain’s Ed Corrie is the top seed in Felixstowe and is looking to build on an impressive two years, having risen 288 ranking places since 2013, and add to an ITF title he won in March this year in Sherbrooke, Canada. Corrie, who trains at Harpenden, has recently played qualifying singles and main draw doubles at Wimbledon and will be hoping to be in good form in time for Felixstowe.
Whilst the line-up features a number of international players, there is a strong British contingent who will be hoping to capitalise on local support. Josh Milton, Dan Cox and Marcus Willis will feature, whilst the draw also includes Birmingham’s Dan Evans, who had a memorable run at to the third round of the US Open in 2013.
Speaking ahead of next week’s event, Tournament Director, Dave Malia said: “It’s great to bring this tournament back to Felixstowe Lawn Tennis Club. The club make a real effort to put on a great event and there has always been support from both the club and the local area. The courts at Felixstowe are superb and fans will be up close to all the action and witness some great grass court tennis throughout the week.”
Entry is free for the qualifying days, Sunday 12th and Monday 13th , with main draw tickets, from Tuesday, only £5. Finals day will take place on Saturday 18th and will see both the singles and doubles draws concluded. Play will start at 12 noon and entry costs just £6.
