Please find the new county Regulary Competing Junior league table. This county league table shows the number of regularly competing junior players (RCJ) at each place to play within Suffolk

Earlier this year local clubs completed a survey around volunteering in sport. Following the responses of the survey we are pleased to announce an informative evening specifically for sports clubs around volunteering.

The 16th Open Veterans’ Tennis Tournament was staged over the Easter holidays at the Ipswich Sports Club Centre in Henley Road. A record number of 102 competitors from 18 different counties competed in the 20 events. Because of the large entry three courts were again used at the David Lloyd Centre on the Friday.

With glorious sunshine already blessing Spring tennis activities, there is a tangible feeling of enthusiasm and excitement about the challenges of the Summer programme ahead. Players of all ages and standards will have their racquets at the ready, with “places to play” throughout the county providing both competitive and social tennis for all to enjoy.

Founded by Suffolk LTA President Bill Curtis some fifty years ago, and enthusiastically administered by the likes of Pam Rogers and Sue Fulcher  in more recent times, schools’ tennis in the county has surely set the standard for numerous other envious associations up and down the land. Generations of schoolchildren have taken up the game, developing their talents through coaching and competitive opportunities both as individuals and team players.

Tennis at Wortham is the envy of many clubs throughout the county, their junior programme in particular providing an abundance of opportunities for aspiring youngsters of all ages. Two of their players, Harry Haywood + Reuben Martingdale have now been selected  from approximately 2,500 children to attend the national trials for working as ball kids at the ATP World Finals being staged once again at the 02 Arena.

The Ipswich Sports Club will be staging their 5th Annual Junior Toyota Grade 3 Open Tennis Tournament on their new courts all next week, this highly popular event running from this Sunday, 29th, to the following Sunday, 5th June.. This year sees another huge entry of over 250, with competitors from all over the country travelling to Suffolk from as far afield as Devon and Scotland.
