Despite the wind and rain on Tuesday 10 September, 36 ladies took to the courts to take part in the Lily & Rose Ladies Charity Doubles Tournament, generously sponsored by the Ladies boutique Lily & Rose in Diss. The event, which was held to raise money for Parkinsons UK and for local charity Musical Keys attracted participants from a wide range of clubs with several players travelling from the North Norfolk to take part.
Some of the matches were more of a battle with the elements than with the opponents but every match was successfully completed. The morning part of the tournament took place at three separate locations with the quarters, semis and the final all being played at Wortham after an excellent lunch. Thanks to everyone who played and congratulations to Heather Bottomley and Cheryl Buck from Cromer who won the final, beating Jenny Barton and Sara Worley from Wortham in a good match. Thanks too to the generous donation of prizes by Weavers Wine Bar and Restaurant in Diss and to other local businesses – Skinsense, Larter & Ford, Leisure Sport Diss, Park Flowers and Wortham Tea Shop for their support. The event raised over £700.
