Renata Voracova from Czech Republic tops the bill at this week’s AEGON GB Pro-Series in Edgbaston, Birmingham.
Voracova, who is currently ranked No.303 in the world, is likely to be challenged by a strong European contingent featuring fellow Czech compatriots Katerina Vankova and Martina Kubicikova while Russia’s Marina Melnikova and Constance Sibille of France will also have one eye on the $10,000 total prize pot.
Jade Windley is the highest ranked Brit on show but will be ably supported by Anna Fitzpatrick, Francesca Stephenson and Lucy Brown.
They will be backed up by ten British wildcards split between the main draw and qualifying.
Freya Christie, Alannah Griffin, Jasmine Asghar, Eden Silva, Sabrina Federici and Georgia Craven will have to battle through three rounds of qualifying before reaching the main draw.
Harriet Dart, Anna Brogan, Katie Boulter and Lana Rush have bypassed qualifying and will join the other competitors in the main draw.
Tournament Director Sarah Wooding said: "This is the first international event to be played at the new indoor tennis centre at Edgbaston Priory Club and we are looking forward to a week of top quality tennis at such an impressive new facility."
The new facility was opened by
Daniela Hantuchova on the eve of the AEGON Classic tournament and is part of a £12m redevelopment of the club’s facilities, into which the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) invested £5 million as part of its commitment to grow and sustain the sport of tennis within the region.
Qualifying will commence on November 12th with the Doubles final scheduled for Saturday November 17th and the Singles final taking place on November 18th.
