Fair Play - Award to Sophie Bartlett

The Fair Play values are a reminder to everyone of what our sport is about and the attitude that should be adopted when participating.

As a form of recognition, Sophie Bartlett was awarded the 2012 Warwickshire Fair Play girls award at the County Closed. This was decided from all age-group girls and competitions across the whole season for general good behaviour and sportsmanship.

Sophie was presented with a trophy by Simon Haddleton of Way2Play [http://www.way2play.co.uk/] who said “Soph is a delight to have at any tournament she enters and is always incredibly polite to opponents, parents and officials around tournament venues”.

Sophie said: “I was very pleased with the award and didn’t expect it. My club has always encouraged Fair Play as an essential part of the game. There are some very good girls in Warwickshire and some get very frustrated when they play - I encourage everyone to appreciate the spirit in which tennis should be played and respect all aspects of the game.”

Sophie plays U12 at Blossomfield club in Solihull [http://www.blossomfieldclub.co.uk/Tennis]
