Rugby LTC Club Presentations 2012

Last Saturday, Rugby LTC held their very first “Club Get Together and Presentations” at the LMRCA Club in Hillmorton Road. The evening was a roaring success with over 110 members, families and friends attending.

The following presentations were awarded by the Club Committee.

Team of the Year:

This was awarded to our U8’s Mini Red team consisting of Charlotte Eaton, William Moore, William Garthwaite and Zachary Wenham. During the year they won their Aegon Team Tennis League and finished 3rd in the County finals play offs. They also won the Area league at Virgin Active in Coventry and went on to be 3rd in another set of County finals.

Tennis Leader of the Year:

The recipient of this award was 15 year old Gemma Trodd. In September, Gemma took on running the clubs weekly Mini Red tournaments at Rugby School. She also assists with Junior Club Night, our Performance Squads and does Buddy hitting with some of our younger players. She has also established herself as a regular 1st/2nd team player.

Most Improved Player of the Year:

This award went to 16 year old Liam Victoros, who has improved his matchplay out of all recognition this year. As he is maturing, he has firmly established a place in our 1st/2nd teams. His highlights were beating a 6.1 rated Adult player in our Summer Challenge Grade 4 Open event and taking a set off our reigning club champion Marcus Powell.

Performance of the Year:

This award was rightly given to our Coventry Ladies 1st team players on their very last league match of the season. In what had been a difficult year with injuries and illness, they required a seemingly impossible draw against Virgin Active (Coventry) in order to maintain their place in the premier division. To make things worse, Rugby hadn’t taken any rubbers off Virgin in the last 5 seasons and they needed to win 3-1 to guarantee winning another league title. Amazingly, Charlotte Brayson & Rebecca Thomas and Rachael Baker & Rebecca Smith managed to gain that “all important” 2-2 draw in front of the most spectators seen at the club.
