4 Berkshire Players at Sutton Pro-Series

Thursday, February 28, 2013

In the recent Pro-Series Men’s Singles AT Sutton LTC no less than 4 local players had encouraging results. Elliott Dimmock (Royal Berkshire) came through 4 rounds of qualifying & lost in the second round of the main event after a long lay-off due to a severe back injury. At the top of the draw James Ireland (WinTennis) unluckily drew top seed Josh Goodall in the first round & lost in straight sets after a close battle.

Neil Pauffley (Maidenhead) was second seed but retired hurt after reaching the quarter final whilst fellow Berkshire player No.3 seed Marcus Willis (WinTennis) took full advantage and got through to another Final. Earlier in the year Marcus beat Goodall but this time the result was reversed with the Hampshire player taking revenge in straight sets.

With 4 full-time players from the County this augurs well for the LTA Inter-county Men’s Championship at Hunstanton in July provided they all stay fit!
