Widmer End Lawn Tennis Club report: On Saturday 5th April, we held our first Open Day of the season. It was a great success and the weather was very kind to us. Last year we had to shovel snow to clear one of the courts but this year – sun, sun and more sun. Just great.
Our Living Tennis coach Ben came along and held free sessions for all ages including adults and they all had lots of fun and really enjoyed themselves. Big smiles and plenty of laughter throughout the afternoon. Well done Ben.
We borrowed the LTA speed machine which also caused a lot of hilarity. The top speed reached was 80mph – WOW. Well done guys.
As a result of the afternoon we had 12 existing juniors, 4 new juniors, 4 new adults and 1 returning adult sign up for the coming season. This was not officially sign up day for existing members but it was great to see them come along.
Thanks to all those who helped to make our new visitors so welcome.
Our Junior Sign On Day is Sunday, 27th April starting at 9am. Our next Open Day is 1st June during the afternoon.
