12U Girls Team 2014

U12 Girls County Qualifying at Frinton:

Report by Team Captain Caroline Care.

Girls Team: Darcey Roe (Win Tennis), Hannah Krasner (Halton), Alexa Wilson (Halton) and Rachel Roger-Lund (Chesham 1879).

Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th June 2014

What a start to the weekend tackling the M25 and A12 on a Friday afternoon.  Plenty of patience sitting in traffic!!!!

Had a really great start on Saturday morning with Darcey, Hannah and Alexa wining their respective singles matches.  Hannah had to dig deep in her 2nd set coming from 1-3 down to play her way back into the match taking the next 4 games to win the match.  The doubles was played after the Essex singles matches and unfortunately Alexa and Rachel lost a very close 1st set on the tie-break 8-10 and could not produce the same form in the 1st set and eventually lost 2-4.

Essex was going to be a very tough match and so it proved to be with Darcey, Hannah and Alexa losing their respective singles matches the score did not reflect the close games and length of some of the rallies, just could not convert on the game points and they all tried to change their game plans. The doubles was a similar story to the singles they had close games but just could not find that winning formula.

After their matches the girls went for a paddle in the sea  the water was very cold. After which we  all enjoyed our 99 icecream.

Play on Sunday started at 8.30 am and our first match was against Middlesex and this also proved to be a very touch match and although Darcey, Hannah and Alexa had their chances in their respective singles matches they were not able to convert their chances and again the score did not reflect all their hard work.  The doubles as again played after our singles match against Berkshire and although Darcey and Rachel took a well deserved 3-1 lead they could not sustain their form and did not win another game.

Berkshire were now a chance for the team to put the disappointment of the morning match and Darcey produced her best form over the weekend to win a close match 5-3, 4-2. Alexa also produced a good performance to win her match 4-1, 4-1.  Hannah worked hard in the 1st set but just could not convert.  Changing her game plan in the 2nd set to hit more angles started to work but just could not convert to winning games.   It all came down to the doubles and Hannah and Alexa gave it their all but eventually losing 2-4, 2-4, now it came down to a shoot out tie-break, they did not have a good start, but worked really hard to try and get back into it but lost 4-10.

I would like to say a big thank you to the Bucks U12 Girls team Darcey, Hannah, Alexa and Rachel for their commitment and support on and off court, never seen so many selfies taken!!!!!  A huge thank you to the parents for their brilliant support and company over the 2 days
