Club members with plaque

Penn and Tyler’s Green has become one of the first tennis clubs in the area to achieve Tennis Clubmark. Tennis Clubmark is the Lawn Tennis Association’s quality accreditation endorsement for tennis clubs.

Penn and Tyler’s Green Lawn Tennis Club was founded in 1961 and has since grown and developed with a membership today of over 250, half of whom are juniors. The club with its coach Neil James has developed a number of very good junior players and last year set out to gain LTA Clubmark as part of its forward plan. Last Saturday Bucks LTA Tennis Development Manager, Abbie Lench, came to Penn during junior coaching to present the Club with its certificate.

After watching the children and presenting the certificate Abbie said:

'Penn and Tyler’s Green are a fantastic example of how a small club can be run efficiently and effectively.  The dedicated committee and coach work together to provide coaching and competitive opportunities for all ages and abilities and since working through the Clubmark accreditation are looking at ways to further expand on their success.'

Phil Harper, Club Chairman, commented: ‘We are delighted to receive this recognition from the LTA. We have plans to improve the playing facilities for our members and this will help us move forward’.
