Festival of Tennis for Special Needs Schools
Congratulations to Alex Barnes for organising a special Festival of Tennis day at Halton for children from 6 local special needs schools – a total of 60 children took part on 5 October. The day started with a mass “warm-up” session led by Jon Price and then the children divided into groups led by the Halton coaching team and supported by the children's teachers when they took part in fun tennis activities and learnt how to “play the game”. All the children had a great time, illustrated by a “thank you” note received from one of the schools:-
“ please would you Nick and Alex kindly pass on our appreciation for hosting and leading an exceptionally wonderful Tennis Festival, on the 5th October 2011. It was great to see so many youngsters enjoying playing tennis, with smiles from ear to ear.
Once again, the warmth, kindness and empathy which came across from everyone was wonderful - it was just such a great success, thank you so very much for all of your support and dedication to make the event an amazing day. It was evident that Alex had put so much thought into the needs of our youngsters and not just with their tennis coaching but also with balloons for decoration and activities for after lunch to keep them busy! Everything was considered. Thank you Nick for supporting Disability Tennis in such a big way and Thank You to Alex for his passion and enthusiasm - you are all FANTASTIC”
