National Mini Tennis Month Hits Portsmouth

Tuesday, May 06, 2014

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is being supported by Highland Spring to get new school children trying tennis for the first time in Portsmouth.

National Mini Tennis Month runs through April & May and sees both the new Portsmouth Tennis Centre and Portsmouth Tennis Academy inviting hundreds of local school children for a free introduction to tennis.

LTA Development Manager, Zoe Bambridge said “We’ve seen hundreds of new children taking part in tennis activities in the last week alone and are hoping to attract over 1,000 players into the sport this month. This campaign is all about taking tennis to local schools and show how fun, easy and exciting it is to play”.

With the season just starting parks, clubs and schools in Portsmouth will be taking part in the Great British Tennis Weekend to get even more people playing tennis this summer. The national event sees up to 1000 places to play opening their doors for free tennis. Anyone looking to get back into tennis, or play for the first time can visit to book onto a free session at a park, club or school near them.
