GOOD ENTRY FOR EASTER TOURNAMENT

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

A very pleasing entry of around 100 youngsters has been received for the National Fostering Agency Easter Hardcourt Tournament, being staged all this week on the Henley Road courts of the Ipswich Sports Club. An Open Singles event has been included for the first time, which is a Grade 3 event, with Saxmundham's George Adey and Norfolk's James Armstrong the top seeds.

There is an extra incentive for the winners of the Boys' and Girls' events, aged 8, 9, 10 and 12, the winners earning a master-class with British number one Elena Baltacha, whose main training base is Henley Road, of course. Ross Spinner and Travis Green head the Boys' 12 Under list, with Georgia Davies and Florence Kenworthy the favourites in the Girls' 12 Under Singles.

London's Ben Jones is expected to do well in both the 14 Under and 16 Under Boys' Singles events, with Gabriel Watson and Felixstowe's Robert Johnson expected to be his closest rivals. Similarly, Nia Braidford looks set to do well in both the 14 Under and 16 Under Girls' Singles competitions, Kirby's Millie Mcilraith and home club player Erica Belton also seeded to go all the way. The National Fostering Agency are delighted to be involved with this prestigious event, which will provide fun and enjoyment for many, and highlight the need for more foster carers in Suffolk.
