This weekend is a busy one for our Suffolk clubs large and small, as they open their doors to tennis enthusiasts of all ages and abilities, laying on free tennis activities in celebration of the nationwide Great British Tennis Weekend. No need to worry about registering online; just pick out a club near you, turn up with your family and friends on the day, and enjoy “fun” tennis and new experiences like tennis xpress ! The following is the programme for the weekend, though there will be further Open Days in June and July :-

St.John’s in Westbury Road are encouraging local people in the community, especially families, to come along and try out some of the various tennis activities they have planned for free between 11am and 4pm, with refreshments available ! Let’s hope their neighbours turn up and support the event.
For my part, I look forward to visiting my old Club Roundwood, where I spent many happy years enjoying myself both competitively and socially. There will be the opportunity to measure the speed of serve, but I might just save myself the embarrassment!! There will be events at Stone Lodge Lane from 10am to 4pm, and I’m particularly looking forward to the Barbecue prior to Hull winning the FA Cup. Here’s hoping you too will pop down to your local club and have an “ace” time!!
