This year the girls really brought their A-game and an awesome fighting attitude! Last year we achieved promotion, and this year with a young team in Division 3 we did it again!!
Hello Division 2!
We could have not asked for more from these girls! They brought maturity, fighting spirit, fearless tennis, and most of all belief in themselves!
It was a total pleasure to have worked with all of you this weekend! Francois and I can only speak highly of you all!
We battled with Storm Doris and trees on the road on Thursday, and 9.5 hours later we arrived! The girls got a 45 minute hit in and then rested up for Day 1!
Friday; East of Scotland
We started strong with Eleanor and India getting 2 wins for us! Amy had a tough one at number 4 and played great tennis, even after having an emotional time losing her phone completely under the permanent metal stair case! Connie and Zulaikha at 3 & 2 put up great winning performances giving us a 3 - 1 lead. Hannah at 1 played an outstanding first set against a very strong opponent but eventually lost in 3 sets. 4 - 2 going into doubles! Lucy and Eleanor got us the win and the 5th point before we dropped the 2nd doubles point and picked up the number 1 with a final result of 6 - 3. An awesome start on the important first day!
Saturday; South Wales
We had the same successful singles line up and again got off to a strong start despite some drama with queries concerning line ups! We were correct and on we went, 2 wins thanks to Eleanor and India. This was followed by brilliant matches from both Amy and Connie. 4 - 0 up! Zulaikha had a tough match at 2 eventually dropping the point at 2 before Hannah stepped up to give us the win before starting the doubles! 3 of our girls won their singles on day 2 against opponents they had never beaten before! A HUGE result! With a spare court all 3 doubles went on; Connie & Hannah, Zulaikha & Lucy, Amy & Eleanor. All stepped on court and did what we asked! Result; 8 -1 and a chance to play off for promotion the following day!
Sunday; North Scotland
We wanted to be first to the tennis centre so that we had more court space - no questions from the girls and all really keen to be ready first and be prepared for their matches! So impressed!
Eleanor stepped on court and made simple work of the number 6, India wanted to take a bit longer so whilst Amy came on and beat the number 4 India fought on and gave us a vital 3 - 0 lead. A real confidence booster for Connie and Zulaikha when they went on to start! Zulaikha fought hard and played really positive tennis to win her first set 7-5 and then sailed through the second. We were an unbelievable 4 - 0 up! Connie played on outstanding match and after 3 sets came up tops having been so mentally tough throughout…she took the match, the win, and the promotion 5 -0! Our girls didn’t take the easy option and wanted to keep playing despite our long journey home! Hannah stepped on court at 1 and had a convincing win, whilst Eleanor and Amy won in 2 sets at 3rd doubles! At this point we called the match in the hope of hitting the road at 4pm and begin our safe journey home!!
