May 2014

Jo was born in Bristol in 1960 and started playing tennis @ Kings when she was 8 years old.

Saturday 17 May 2014 saw UWE Centre for Sport throw its doors open for its annual Family Fun Day. As part of this day, Pete Caseley from Downend and Fishponds tennis club ran a ‘Family Time’ session as part of the ‘Great British Tennis Weekend.’

Tough start for our 3 & 4 singles players losing their opening matches and leaving Avon 2-0 down, Joe Leather then comes from a set down to win and Declan Moran eases to victory at no1 taking the tie to 2 all, Declan and Joe L win at no1 doubles pair in straight sets, the Tom Batcelor and Joe Partridge win a 3rd set tie break to win the match 4-2.

The Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is being supported by Highland Spring to get new school children trying tennis for the first time in Bath.

Two great coach workshops will be taking place at the Birmingham Aegon Classic & Eastbourne Aegon International.

On Sunday 18th May Camvale Tennis Club in Paulton opened its courts from 9am until 6pm (9 hours) to all members of the local community, albeit new to the game, “rusty rackets” or seasoned pro’s. This was part of the “Great British Tennis Weekend” organised by the LTA to encourage more people to take up the sport and hopefully become members.

Over 250 spaces for mini tennis, junior & adults were all booked out before the event had even started & many more people were accommodated on the day.
