Hopes were high going into this year’s event as there was a good mixture of younger and older players.
Judy Murray led a training session at David Lloyd Westbury today for coaches of a brand new tennis programme, ‘Miss-Hits’. Coaches from Bristol were put through their paces as they learnt the games, dances and skill-building exercises needed to deliver this unique and exciting new way of attracting young girls into tennis.
The Lord Mayor of Bristol, Councillor, Alistair Watson and the Lady Mayoress of Bristol, Mrs Sarah Watson conducted the official opening of the new accessible shower at Cotham Park Tennis Club and to celebrate the Inclusive /Ability tennis sessions which take place at the club every Thursday from 1.30-3.00pm.
This year's Avon Junior Championships saw a sharp rise in the number of entries in all age groups over the previous few years, making the tournament very competitive in singles and doubles alike.
