Tens of thousands of budding young tennis players are picking up a racket and playing competitive tennis as part of the nationwide Sainsbury’s School Games Level 3 Festivals this month.
A very high standard throughout the counties, the team should be very proud of their efforts. I know they all learnt something about themselves and more importantly their games!
We all arrived in Bolton on a Friday, went in the hotel pool and played tag. Then at six o'clock we went down to the arena for our training session. We had a small physical warm up, then went into rallying in the service boxes then back to the baseline. We had some point practice, then went into to a doubles match and then before we knew it, the next balls we would hit was the next day in the county cup national finals.
The Avon Road to Wimbledon County Finals took place over the weekend of 5th/6th July, with clubs and schools from across the county represented by players aged 14 & Under who had won their local event.
Avon County LTA is inviting all young tennis players in the county to enter this year;'s County Championships, which takes place at Coombe Dingle Sports Complex from Tuesday 26 to Saturday 30 August.
Avon's U9 Oranage ball team competed at the weekend indoors at Taunton Tennis Centre.
