Avon Junior Katie Swan has won the 10&U National Clay Court Invitational event at Queenswood.
Katie who is coached by Rob Hawkins at David Lloyd, Bristol competed in the Girls 10&U National Clay Court Tournament on 29th & 30th May at Queenswood, Herfordshire. This was an invitiational event for the top 16 10&U girls in the UK.
Having reached the quarter finals on day 1, Katie beat the number 2 seed, Georgie Walker from Hertfordshire, 4-1, 4-1 in the semi final. The final was between Katie and Anastasia Mikheeva from Scotland who was the number 1 seed. Katie lost the first set 3-5, fought back to win the second set 4-0 and won the tie-break 10-4. This was a great result for Katie and Avon.
Simon Pender, Regional Talent Performance Manager and coach, Rob Hawkins, were both delighted with the quality of Katie's tennis and her attitude throughout the tournament.
