Avon boys 18s team travelled to Wrexham and on paper were the strongest team in the division.
First day against Channel Islands they had very strong singles performances winning at 6-5,4-3 and 2, notably Tom Batchelor not dropping a single game. James Hardiman at no.1 had a very tough match up against arguably the best player in the division but had his chances - Avon gaining an unassailable lead of 5-1 after the singles, great doubles play yet again from all lead Avon to a 7-2 win on the first day ...great start.
Day 2 against North Wales was similar, winning singles matches at 6-5,4-3 and the Noah coming up against a tricky opponent at no2 singles then James Hardiman demolishing their no1 player to gain a match win after the singles, doubles performances were again positive (having worked extremely hard on these in practice sessions!!!) meaning Avon win on day 2.
Going into day 3 against Cumbria who also had won on the first 2 days meant that the winner of this tie were going to be promoted. Singles matches 6&5 had very strong performances by Tom and Joe L followed by an exceptional match by Aydin to come back from the depths to gain a 3 set win - 3-0 Avon. Kristian fought very hard but lost in 3 sets at no3 singles while Noah met his match at no.2 - 3-2 Avon! James Hardiman at No1 suffering from an injury fought very hard coming from a set down to win - great effort. Finishing the group win was Tom & Aydin in impressive style in the doubles (great doubles practice proves profitable again!!!) - Avon win 5-2.
Summary- great team of lads, very enjoyable to take away and best team won, bring on division 5 in 2016. Well done team albeit you all need to work on your golf swings!!!!!
