Clevedon LTC's membership is at an all time high with 148 adult members. A recent influx of male players has boosted the figures improving the numbers turning out at club play sessions and increasing the pool of players available for the Winter league. The club currently has 2 teams competing in the Avon Winter Mixed leagues in division 1 and 4. It also has a number of Vet's teams entered after a successful 2012/13 season . The club is very keen to encourage more lady players to come along and give league play a try. If you are interested please contact the ladies captain Deb Barnes via email: clevedonltc@btinternet.com
The Club recently held it's championship finals, where despite misearable weather the men's and ladies singles, mixed doubles, vet's and veterans (over 60) doubles events took place. The men's and ladies doubles event was held at the end of August to alleviate the log-jam of matches which had occurred in previous years and to create an additional enjoyable day of tennis for players and spectators.
The Men's doubles was won by James Bassett and Alex Allen while the ladies title was taken by Lucy Turner-Yeates and Gemma Hockin. On finals day, it was a sibling scoop with Alex Allen swooping the title of Men's Singles champion and Stephanie Allen cruising to victory in the Ladies Singles. The Mixed Doubles title was once again claimed by the traditional and virtually unbeatable pairing of James Bassett and Josie Vickers. Vet's Mixed doubles title went to Mike Maiden and Brenda Plummer; Vet's Ladies: Brenda Plummer and Shirley Hyde and Veterans's Mixed: David and Linda Pratt and Veterans's men's doubles: Ian Barnett and Brian Tayler. Club president Margaret Dyer presented the trophies and everyone enjoyed hot dogs and salad before the rain finally won out and brought the day to an early close.
