Downend & Fishponds LTC hosted a 12 mile, Downend to Bitton Railway Station bike ride on Sunday 21st October for the members of the club. A total of 25 people turned up for the ride and all enjoyed it. The youngest junior being Rio aged just 5 years old said "It was awesome. I can't wait to do it again. I loved cycling with my friends!" with another junior Jemima aged 8 said "The bike ride was lots of fun and I loved cycling to Bitton. I liked stopping for 'cheesy chips' at lunchtime".
The organiser of the bike ride Nicola Dutton (Social Secretary) was unable to ride as she is out injured but met up with the riders in different parts of the ride and said "A beautiful Autumn day - the weather was very kind to us and the cycle path between Bristol and Bath looks really lovely at this time of year. It was so nice for us to enjoy another shared interest together, off the tennis court this time! Great to see children as young as five cycling an average of 12 miles! A huge achievement, well done to all. I'm sure all adults will agree, the refreshment (Pub) stop on the way home was a very welcome one. Here's to next time"
Pete Caseley Head Coach of Downend & Fishponds also attending the ride and commented "I was impressed with the turn out of so many people. It was really nice to catch up with the parents and kids off the court as there is never enough time to chat to them in the all year round coaching programme."
A Big well done goes out to all the riders and a big thank you to Nicola Dutton for organising the event!!!!!!!
