The Halstead & Braintree Summer Tennis Season kicked off last week with Haverhill Men's A Team welcoming Castle Hedingham A Team for the first match of the season. In what is usually a very close match, Haverhill managed to start the season in style with a well deserved 7-2 victory. The match looked to be turning into another tight affair until the key moment of the match when at 2 matches all, James Booth and Josh Dashwood refused to be beaten, from 5-3 down they saved 15 match points to pull through and win in a tie-break. With the comeback complete Haverhill stepped up a gear winning the rest of the nights matches with the established doubles pairing of Adam Fowle and Gratzz Senn delivering 3 out of 3 sets. Special mention goes to debutant Brenton Mattheus partnering Rob Jeffs who rounded off the nights proceedings with a hard fought win.
