Stowmarket Lawn Tennis Club

We are approaching the busiest time of year at the club with every aspect of club activity gaining speed. Club nights are getting even more popular as the lighter evenings draw players down for that extra practise. We really do have the most wonderful setting in which to play our favourite game and there can’t be many things to beat a couple of sets on a summer evening.

Senior teams are just starting the summer campaign with several new players committing to the fixtures. We have 2 ladies & 2 men’s teams plus 3 mixed teams so a great opportunity to play competitive tennis against some of the best players from around the county. Fixtures are usually on a Monday, Wednesday & Friday evening, from about 6.30pm, so do come down and see some matches. Sky Sports not required!

Our BIG event is on Sunday 18th May, from 2.00-5.00pm. The Great British Tennis Weekend is coming to Stowmarket and is aimed at getting more people on-court and raising the profile of tennis. We will be running sessions of 45minutes throughout the afternoon so come down and see us to get some free coaching and a taste of this great game. No previous tennis experience is needed, just come along and have a bash. There will be many club volunteers present to look after you and answer any questions you may have. Membership discounts will also be available on the day!

We’re planning some exciting new additions to the coaching program, coming soon. Cardio Tennis is a fitness class based on a tennis court and requires no previous experience of tennis. Played with soft balls and a banging dance soundtrack it’s a great calorie burner and is delivered with heart-rate monitors to keep you in that cv zone.

We’re also planning to introduce a pre-school class called Tennis Whizz aimed at the under 5’s and their parents. Each lesson involves a fun story and includes movement, co-ordination and other learning skills specifically for that age group. For information on these new classes or our open day, give me a ring.

See you on court!
