Both our Girls' and Boys' 18U Tennis teams did the county proud in the nationwide Aegon Inter-County Cup competition last weekend, the Girls making the long trip to Scotland worthwhile by beating both South of Scotland and North Wales to win promotion to Group 5, and the Boys literally missing out on the same feat by the loss of a few agonising points !! Both these results are very encouraging for the future.
It was the opening day encounter with promotion rivals Northumberland which was to prove so decisive for Suffolk Boys, who lost out 7-10 in the deciding Championship tie-break with the scores level at 4-all, Robert Camplin particularly impressive with a 7-6 final set victory against a higher rated opponent, The other two fixtures saw victory over Derbyshire (6-3), with Ryan Lambert doing well to turn around a 3-6 3-5 deficit to a 6-4 final set victory, and a highly satisfying 5-4 success over relegated rivals Norfolk.
