The Suffolk Under 18 Girls County Cup achieved promotion from a very strong Division 6, winning tight 5-4 matches on two of the days. The team travelled to Bidston with it being many of the players' first time at an Under 18 County Cup! Four out of the seven players are still Under 14!
On the first day it was tied 3-3 after singles, after being 3-1 down, and it all came down to the number 1 doubles, where Ella Monsey and Hannah Vickers won on a third set tiebreak! This win seemed to give the team confidence for the rest of weekend. The second day on paper and by the scoreline looked an easier day, beating the Channel Islands 8-1, but it was closer than the score suggested and the opposition made the team work hard for the win. The final day had everything riding on it; the winning team would win promotion. Again it was 3-3 after singles, and came down to a final doubles. This time it was the number 3 doubles, which Nia Braidford and Florence Kenworthy also won on a third set tiebreak! So after the disappointment of being relegated last year, the team responded magnificently to achieve promotion to go straight back up.
