The U10 County Cup Avon Boys went to the National tournament up in Bolton. Thanks to Ollie Bendall, our team captain, who made this opportunity happen.
We played 12 singles and won 1 match, the person who won us that match was a person who was very determined, Jonathan Sedcole. The first county that we had to play was Warwickshire and our number 1 had to play the best person in Great Britain. Warwickshire were amazing so we had little chance but tried our best. The overall result against Warwickshire was 3-0 in singles in 1-0 in doubles.
The same day we played Staffordshire. We won one match against Staffordshire which Jonathan Sedcole won for us. So that made us 2-1 down in singles and then we lost the doubles to make us lose 3-1 at the end of day one.
The next day, we had to play Cambridgeshire. We also lost to them 4-0 but at the end of the tournament we were very pleased because we played as hard as we could have done.
The surface of the Bolton Arena was an indoor hard-court which was a slow court. The ball didn’t come off the court as fast as usual.
Our team consisted of Freddie Middleton, Billy Hatcher, Jamie Thomas & Jonathan Sedcole. Our team captain was Ollie Bendall.
