LIONEL COX - Saturday 5th to Sunday 6th May 2012

U12/U11 Girls Team

Firstly, I would like to thank all the parents for their great support over the 2 days, as Saturday was very cold, and to the girls for their conduct on and off the court.

My first experience of the Lionel Cox was during the warm up when I leant over the tennis net and broke it.  What a great first impression!!!!!

U12 Girls Team

Lauren Armstong, although played up an age group did not have any problem during any of her matches over the two days and played consistently when serving and during the points.

Amelia did struggle on the Saturday with her two matches with her consistency, but on the Sunday came out and played two great matches, although the Essex player retired in the first set, Amelia was playing very well and played two unbelievable drive volleys!!! And then played very well to overcome the Suffolk player to help the team take a 2-0 lead.

Poppy had a tough first match against Herts, but came back well to beat the Northants player on day 1, which meant we beat Northants 2-1.  On the Sunday against Essex played a brilliant tie break to take the rubber and beat Essex 3-0.  The last match against Suffolk had a tough opponent and unfortunately lost this one, but the team had already won the tie,

On a lighter note, I had asked the girls to warm up….. Sometime later it transpired that they had warmed up lying on the pipes in the changing rooms, but was reassured a warm up was completed for tennis!!!!! Before they went onto play.

I would like to say to all the team very well played as they finished 3rd overall.

U11 Girls Team

Indu played very well on Saturday as the conditions were difficult playing the first match on the astro and then on the hockey pitches for the 2nd match with the inconsistent bounce.  In the first match on Sunday played well on the clay and in the play off for 1st or 2nd place, struggled in the second set with her serve losing that set,  and was twice down in the championship tie break but came back twice to play brilliantly to record a great win and win the tie 2-1.

Izzy played a great second match on day one on the hockey pitches to take the match and win the tie 3-0 against Cambridgeshire.   Played very well against Suffolk and had a tough match in the playoff for 1st or 2nd place, struggled with her movement and consistency, but did not throw in the towel, but eventually lost this match.

Emily played well against her first opponent, although if she had not been as ruthless it could have been very different.  Unfortunately Emily did not have an opponent against Cambridgeshire.  On Sunday Emily played very well against Suffolk and in the U11 playoff for 1st or 2nd place won that match well with her consistent attacking tennis.

Congratulations to all the girls as Bucks 11&U Girls came first and all Bucks teams came 2nd overall.

A great team effort - WELL DONE.
