James Morris and Alice Mcgee were awarded the prestigious Geraldine Booth award for their outstanding support to the County over their years as Juniors at the Cambridgeshire LTA AGM last week.
This award is presented in memory of Geraldine Booth who died of a brain tumour. Geraldine had two sons who played tennis for Cambridgeshire for many years Richard and James and when she died the boys wanted to present something to the County in her memory. She was a great supporter of the boys and also Cambridgeshire County Tennis.
The award this year went to James and Alice who over their years as juniors have always played for the County in all the age groups and been available whenever selected and always played with great pride.
Both players are very keen on their tennis and although perhaps not winning national titles have been stalwarts of County tennis with great success and both have started on a coaching career doing their Level 1 and 2 courses. Alice has played for the Senior County teams for several years already and James made his debut last year and l am sure both will play for many years to come. Alice will be coaching in the Summer in America and James in Portugal – both trying to gain valuable experience before returning to the UK in September.
Congratulations to both James and Alice who thoroughly deserved their awards
