LIVING SPORT’s Sportivate programme is providing a chance for organisations across the county to secure valuable funding to help create new sporting and physical activity opportunities for 14-25 year olds. Funding can help against the delivery costs of 6 taster sessions, including coaching fee, facility hire or equipment purchase.
The programme is aimed at those who are not currently choosing to take part in sport in their own time, or are doing so for a very limited amount of time, and will support them to continue playing sport in their community after the six weeks is up.
LIVING SPORT is currently accepting applications from organisations wishing to deliver taster sessions from April 2013 to March 2014. The next application deadline is 18th January 2013.
Ross Hayward, LIVING SPORT’s lead officer on Sportivate said, ‘Since the start of the programme in April 2011 we have supported many organisations, including 30 different sports clubs. One great example of how effective the funding can be for a sports club is via Cambridge 99 Rowing Club. They have utilised the Sportivate programme successfully to increase their junior membership considerably over the last 12 month period.
The engagement in the programme has also helped clubs, such as Cambridge 99 Rowing Club to increase their profile within the community and build valuable links with other local organisations such as higher education colleges.’
Sportivate provides a great opportunity for organisations such as National Governing Bodies of Sport to grow their sport, Community Sport Clubs to increase their profile, Leisure Centres to increase their offers and Local Authorities to reach local communities.
