12U Boys County Cup

A team of Dominic Lea, John Taylor and Toby Huffer played in the 12 and under
county cup event at ipswich sports club.

On day 1 we had a tough opening match against Essex, After good performances from both Toby and John we were 2-1 up after the singles, Dom played some excellent tennis but lost a very tight match at number 1. With us then losing out on a match tie break in the doubles it was all down to the tie break shoot out. Dom and and John stayed positive and fought hard to give Cambs a 10-7 victory. A 3-2 win what a start!
 
Our 2nd match was against Suffolk, Dom and John both won their singles on match tie breaks and Toby won a close match at number 3. So this gave us a 3-0 lead, Dom and John then went on to win the doubles. A 4-0 win for Cambs overall.
 
The second day saw us come up against norfolk in the first match. Toby got us off to a winning start. John then produced some excellent tennis but lost on a match tie break. Dom battled hard at number 1 but lost out in a tough match, Unfortunately we didn't manage to win the doubles either which left Cambs with a 4-1 lose.
 
Our final match was against Bedfordshire this proved to be our easiest match of the weekend, With Dom, John and Toby all winning their singles matches and John and Toby also winning doubles this gave Cambs a comfortable 4-0 victory.
 
With Cambs, Norfolk and Essex all having 3 wins this meant it was all down to the number of rubbers each team had won over the weekend. Norfolk managed to beat us by one rubber this was a big disappointment to all the boys but they can all come away from the weekend with their heads held high after fighting hard and playing some great tennis!!
