On 5th May 2012, over 45 girls travelled to Bromley Tennis Centre to play in an 8U Girls only competition refereed by Helene Jackson.
The girls were divided into three groups, experienced, quite experienced and not experienced to ensure each player played other players of similar ratings.
Amelia Montheith and Venetia Barker from Sevenoaks won the Experienced group with Nina Sherwen and Caitlin Mcloughlin from Sevenoaks as runners up.
The Quite Experienced group was won by Melodie White and Alice Reeves from Otford and the runners up were Madeleine de Souza and Hannah Smith from Canterbury.
Winners of the Not experienced group were Emma Hughes and Lily Hinds from Sevenoaks and the runners up Natalie and Jemima Marks from Hildenborough.
We were extremely lucky that Naomi Cavaday, former world number 170 was able to present the prizes to the players and lend her support and experience to the event.
All players had a fantastic time, playing lots of matches and making new friends.
Kent LTA are planning to run more 8U Girls only events to increase the number of girls playing the sport, therefore leading to a bigger entry into the Red County Closed Girls event for 2013.
