The Ravensbourne School beats Hurstmere School in Final

Congratulations to Milo Bargeron and Matthew Theobald-Cearns from The Ravensbourne School, Bromley on winning the Y9/Y10 Kent Schools Annual Championships at Bromley Tennis Centre on 15th June 2012, they beat Hurstmere School, Sidcup in the Final.

Unfortunately due to poor weather three sections of the Annual Championships event had to be cancelled but the Year 9/10 Boys event was able to go ahead on the indoor courts at the centre. 10 schools from all over Kent attended with 48 players taking part. The first part of the competition involved a round robin event with the top four pairs in each group progressing to a knock out draw of sixteen.

The strongest players from Norton Knatchbull, Maplesden Noakes, Cranbrook and Skinners schools did very well to reach the quarter final stage of the draw, Sevenoaks as ever had two very strong pairs who reached the semi finals but it was the top pairs from Ravensbourne School and Hurstmere who fought through to the final. This was a strongly contested match with Ravensbourne emerging the eventual winners.

The other schools who did not win enough matches in the round robin event played in a Plate competition. The final was between the second strongest pairs from Dartford Grammar and Norton Knatchbull school with the latter emerging the eventual winners.

All of the boys who attended were an absolute credit to their schools. Their behaviour and helpfulness throughout the day towards the staff involved in running the event was greatly appreciated.

Many thanks as ever to Bromley Tennis Centre for supporting this event, hopefully next summer we will not be faced with the weather conditions we have had to deal with this year.
