Road to Wimbledon Kent County Finals

Congratulations to James Davis representing Appeti Tennis Centre - Canterbury and Cathrine Hogh representing Sevenoaks School who won Kent’s County ‘Road to Wimbledon’ Final 2012.

Their prize is a place in the National ‘Road to Wimbledon’ Finals, which this year will be played on the grass courts at Bank of England Sports Ground 13 – 18 August.

James beat Lucas Percy representing The Parklangley Club 4-1 5-4 and Cathrine beat Nell Miller representing Bromley Tennis Academy 3-5 4-1 1-0.

This prestigious three-tiered national event started in 2002 and has been a great success at all three of its levels. The first tier is played in clubs who organise a tournament for boys and girls in the 14U age group. This year in Kent, 25 clubs and 2 schools ran events. The winners and some runners-up were then invited to play in the second tier event in the County Finals, which were held indoors at Bromley Tennis Centre, over the weekend of 7th & 8th July.

The boys’ semi finalists were James Davis representing Appeti Tennis Centre – Canterbury, Lucas Percy representing The Parklangley, Nicholas Brookes representing Sevenoaks school and Tommy Cartledge who represented Sevenoaks LTC.

In the girls’ event final, the semi-finalists were Cathrine Hogh representing Sevenoaks School, Nell Miller representing Bromley Tennis Academy, Natasha Munday representing Bromley Tennis Academy and Josephine Hogh representing Sevenoaks LTC.

All players in the County final received a sweatshirt provided by the event sponsors HSBC.

Well done to all players who have taken part and Good Luck to James and Cathrine in the finals.
