Hundreds get involved in free tennis across Bromley and Bexley

Over 500 people picked up a racket and played tennis across Bromley and Bexley as 14 clubs held free open days on Sunday 30th June.

Thousands of flyers were delivered across the London Boroughs to inform people where they could head to play tennis and the various offers and free open days which would be taking place.

As a consequence, over 220 adults and 280 juniors signed up to give tennis a go at the clubs as a number of successful and vibrant open days took place offering lots of different products such as LTA Mini Tennis and Cardio Tennis.

Tudor Rowe, Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) Tennis Development Manager for Kent, said: “The open days were a great success with good attendance and even sign-ups to membership and coaching courses.

“We want to make people aware of all the brilliant opportunities there are to play tennis regularly in the region, how many offers and services that are available at our venues and also how affordable it is.

“We want more people playing tennis more often and if we can continue to get more people picking up a racket and having a go they will discover what a fantastic sport it is as many of the attendees found out at the weekend.”

The people who attended on the day agreed to be added to a contact list which the LTA are aiming to follow up to find out what #TennisIS to them and what they want from their local tennis venues.
