Mills brings home bronze medal from the Worlds!

Ten teams represening Great Britain, in age groups 35 to 55 for men and women, set off in high hopes for the ITF Seniors World Team Championships in Antalya, Turkey, and were rewarded for their efforts with a crop of four medals and two narrow misses. Both the Women’s 35 and Men’s 55 teams won gold, with the Women’s 55 taking silver and the Women’s 40 winning bronze. Cambridgeshire's David Mills was in the Tony Trabert team (M40), which was reduced to three players at a late hour before departure but did not allow this to affect their determination and enthusiasm. In their group, the team was equal on matches won with Romania and the USA but won through to the knockout stage on a countback of sets won. In the semi-final they lost to the Netherlands and then to Germany in the third place play-off to match their fourth seeding position. David teamed up with Seb Jackson (Cheshire) and Andy Phillips (Dorset).

In the individual event which took place the following week, Chris Hearn from Buckinghamshire won the Men's 50 doubles and retained the Mixed 50 doubles. The only other medal winner was David Mills who came home with a bronze medal in the Men's 45 doubles.
