The County Tennis AGM was held at Emmanuel College on Thursday and three of the County Juniors were awarded prizes which were presented by the new, and first lady President of the LTA, Cathy Sabin.
A special award was presented by the County to 13 year old Kira Reuter for her outstanding achievements in 2013 for winning the Aegon 12 and under singles and doubles championships. Kira is currently ranked 7 in the 14 and under age group and recently reached the semi-finals of the Invitational National Tour finals and last weekend helped the County 18 and under team to get promoted to Group 2.
The other award – the Geraldine Booth award was presented to the girl and boy who have contributed significantly to the County in the 18 and under age group over their junior careers. This was awarded to Chris Kindred and to Zoe Douglas. Zoe has represented the County in all the age groups from 8 and under through to 18 and under and this year played number one both in the Winter Senior County team and also the 18 and under team and has been a great supporter of the County.
Chris Kindred has again been a great stalwart of County tennis through all the age groups and always keen and eager to play. Chris is now embarking on a coaching career and has already passed his Level 3 qualification.
Sue Rich, Chair of the Junior Committee – said ‘All three players thoroughly deserved their awards for their personal and County achievements and l hope they will all represent the County for many years to come’.
