Changes to Inspired Facilities Funding

Friday, March 21, 2014

Sport England have made some changes to the Inspired Facilities application process, please see below for more details.

‘Inspired Facilities is Sport England’s £110 million national programme that funds the renovation and modernisation of local sports facilities. Established ahead of  London 2012 the fund has helped over 1,300 projects to improve and refurbish sports clubs or transform non-sporting venues into modern grassroots sports facilities. So whether the organisation is a club, local authority, school or parish council the fund is available to help improve their facilities.

As a result of feedback from previous applicants Sport England have made some fundamental changes to the fund detail and the application process. These are as follows :-

1)      It is now an open programme which means that applicants can submit their application as soon as they are ready rather than having to send it by a specific date. Decision meetings will take place twice a year, the first one of these will be in September 2014 when all applicants received prior to the 6th June will be assessed. The second will take place in February 2015 for applications received before 3rd November.

2)      Community and voluntary organisations and parish and town councils can now apply for grants worth between £20,000 and £75,000 without the need for any partnership funding. At least 70% of the funding available is set aside for these groups. The maximum amount that could be applied for was previously £50,000.

The amount available to Local Authorities, Statutory organisations, and educational establishments such as schools can apply for remains unchanged at £20,000 - £150,000.
